How to play the game...
Here are the steps to doing Math in our classroom:
1. Take a PRE-Test to see what you already know and what you still need to know.
2. Review your PRE-Test with Mrs. Smith. She will provide you with a "Game Sheet" that tells you what videos/notes you will need to take and what assignments will need to be completed.
3. Watch the video(s) and take notes BEFORE beginning any assignment. Be sure to completely fill out all sections of the NOTES template. Then, show your notes to Mrs. Smith.
4. Do your assignment/"Level" Remember - YOU MUST ALWAYS SHOW YOUR WORK! You can do your assignment with one or two other people that are on the same "Level" you are on OR you can do your assignment on your own.
IF you work with one or two other people,
a. Each person should work on a problem alone first
b. Group then compares answers and explains how they got their answers - everyone takes a turn
c. If you are convinced that you have done the problem correctly - don't change your answer
d. If you are convinced that you have made an error - learn from it - redo the problem, don't copy from your
partner
5. Once you've completed a "Level" show it to Mrs. Smith, (completed Video Notes & assignments), then grade it. REMEMBER CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER!
6. Look over your "Level" - how did you do, what did you do correctly? what do you need to still learn? Did you do at least 80% of the problems correctly? Show Mrs. Smith your graded "Level" and be prepared to discuss with her the answers to these questions
a. 80% or more - move on to the next "Level"
b. Less than 80% correct - talk with Mrs. Smith about what you will need to do to learn this concept, then repeat
steps #3-6
7. Once you have completed ALL "Level" in your current "Game", and correctly completed all the steps for each "Level", organize your "Levels" in order and staple them together with your "Game Sheet" to the top
a. Turn in your "Game Sheet" with your "Levels"
b. See Mrs. Smith for a "Game Final"
REMEMBER PRE-TEST & GAME FINALS are to be taken at the "Testing Table" (No Talking, just you, your test, and a pencil)
c. Review your "Game Final" with Mrs. Smith
i. If 80% or more - Congratulations you are ready to move on to the next Game!!!
ii. If less than 80% - together Mrs. Smith will decide with you what you will need to do to demonstrate Mastery to move forward
